Linda Blair
Linda Blair, who was just five when she was awarded the Golden Globe she appeared to be well getting close to getting the Academy Award for this role, needed to get used to the spotlight. First, as model and then acting, Linda Blair faced the spotlight from the moment that out 600 candidates, she was chosen for the role of Regan the possessed girl in The Exorcist. Linda Blair quickly rose to notoriety and was awarded the Golden Globe. She was scheduled to also win an Academy Award. But when the story broke that some characters were not actually done by Linda (the voice of the demons were dubbed and 8 seconds were shot by the stuntman) This dream fell off the rails. Her success was in landing the lead role in a number of films, like the wildly popular TV film Born Innocent. However, Linda was arrested for forced to purchase cocaine by a peer group when she reached 18 and was sentenced to an imposed three-year probation period. The highly-publicized drug bust resulted in Linda to be barred from Hollywood as well as her professional career became a B-movie and sporadic TV guest appearances.
