Angelina Jolie (originally Angelina
Jolie Voight) is an American actor and director most well-known for her sexy
appeal, edginess and work in the field of humanitarian aid. Jolie, the daughter
and actor Jon Voight, was raised in New York. After her early years, she moved
to Los Angeles, where she played the role of an inpatient with mental illness
in Girl, interrupted (1999). After two years at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and
Film Institute She enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. She later studied
drama at New York University. Alongside acting in theatre productions, she
played the role of a model as well as appearing in music videos.Jolie's first
film-related part was in Hackers (1995) in the filming process, she met her
first husband, British actor Jonny Lee Miller (married 1996; divorced 1999).
Similar to several other films, this one did not find an audience. Jolie, who
played the role of governor's wife of Alabama's segregationist governor was the
subject of much interest in 1997. Later, she won an award called the Golden
Globe Award. The following year , she portrayed the role of a model struggling
with addiction to drugs in the HBO film Gia and it was a role that brought her
numerous awards, including an award of a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild
Award. After her Oscar-winning performance in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie appeared
in Pushing Tin, a comedy featuring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton and Billy
Bob Thornton. Then, in 2003, she got divorced. Jolie played the girlfriend of
the carjacker (Nicolas Cage), in Gone in Sixty Seconds 2000. In the following
years, she adopted a British accent and learned street fighting and kickboxing
in order to perform the roles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider 2001 and Lara Croft
Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life 2003. She played the role of Alexander's mother
in Oliver Stone's Alexander (2004) as well as starred alongside Jude Law and
Gwyneth Paltrow in Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow (a sci-fi thriller set
1930s New York City). Both films failed at the box office however Jolie had a
smash with Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) which was a film in which she played
an assassin disguised as a typical housewife. While working on the film she
became acquainted with Brad Pitt, who became her co-star.
